Report and track potholes, overgrown lots, abandoned cars, non-functioning street lights, trash/bulk pick-ups, and illegal dumping

At some point, the city launched a website for reporting priority issues such as potholes, overgrown lots, abandoned cars, non-functioning street lights, non-functioning traffic lights, trash/bulk pick-ups, and illegal dumping.
Thanks as usual for the great info. Trying to get a correct, informed, helpful person on the phone with city hall is not always easy. Hope everyone uses this site to help get some action to problems.
I dunno, S. Kelly – I’ve reported the stopped up storm drain on the northeast corner of 25th and East Main Sts. multiple times, both on the phone and using an internet mapping tool. Last time we had rain (seems like ages ago, but was actually maybe back in June, a late afternoon quick storm) it was still stopped up. I’m not sure if this is the internet mapping tool I used to report it so maybe I’ll try yet again, the one I used before was something the Times Dispatch “Street Beat” columnist sent me.
They are using the web site http://www.seeclickfix.com.
It allows people to report all kinds of problems.
And anyone can follow a “watch area” and get notifications, including neighborhood groups, politicians, news organizations etc.
And a widget can be added to any website.
The trash dump and drug market that the wooded lot at M, 24th and Jefferson has become should be something everyone encourges the City to help fight. It’s moved from the corner to the woods.
I put some dumping reports in on Saturday and the guys from the city are cleaning it up today. This is really a much better response than I would’ve ever imagined.
I also put in a bulk pickup request on saturday, thinking that they’d pickup in a month or so, but this morning (Tuesday) they were here at 7:30am. Awsome. DPU is on the case! And my huge pile of brush is all gone.
Apparently, the SeeClickFix website also has an iPhone, Android, and Blackberry app where you can send reports through your mobile phone. Very cool!
Thanks to your article I reported a streetlight that was out on my block and within 2 days it was fixed.
This seems to be working. I’m glad there’s an iphone app. That makes it so much easier to report issues when I’m out walking. They seem to be on the case in my neighborhood, too.
Holy crap, this actually worked (sort of)! I posted about a sidewalk in serious disrepair that I’ve been bugging the city about for three years. And lo and behold, there was a city crew out there this morning looking at it. Now, whether they *do* anything about it remains to be seen…
Okay, I used to CALL for bulk trash pickup but because you guys are reporting such quick action, today I used this tool to report a need for bulk trash pickup. Will see how long it takes. Thanks everyone for the responses!
I’ve also reported the same clogged drain at 25th and Main at least three times via the City’s website.
How long does it take these idiots to figure out it doesn’t need unclogging when there is no rain? It’s clogged damn it. Fix it!
Ditto the potholes on Sugar Bottom. Of the 10 or so, they patched maybe three.
It’s only getting better….right.
LOOK…..SHINY!
Jeez…………….
Libby Hill Res #12: I too have reported that storm drain at 25th and Main multiple times – both on the website, and by phone. I’m going to do it again, this time with a picture of Main Street flooded with water. Maybe that will get it done, maybe not.
