Nannie’s house is looking good!
Very nice restoration. I also like how they cleaned up the front yard.
This house was abandoned for many years and divided up to several inherited owners. I helped the city locate these owners which lead to a tax auction and was finally sold. Built in 1888, it was given a deserving and great looking exterior rennovation. The only down side is that it was divided up into a duplex rental property rather than back to a single family which also adds to the parking problem on the block.
I love that they reinstated the old front windows!
Re: the front windows… the proper and only way to do it. Going the cheap and quick off the shelf way is totally wrong when doing a restoration.
Wow. I never saw this house before they started the remodel. The transformation is amazing. Great work!
awh shucks y’all! Giles over at the Alliance just emailed me and said our house was buzzing on CHPN (we do call it Nannie’s house in memory of the last resident prior to abandonment.)
FYI, this was a city tax auction house, and we are applying for Fed & State Historic Tax Credits on the restoration.
BTR, Derek Metzler and Dustin Toth get all the credit for the really heavy lifting on this project and all the fine carpentry you see, especially on the front porch. Master painter, Ray Hockaday, awesome roofer, Curtis Jones; the plumbing Turd Hurders and many other skilled craftspeople participated in this project.
Our neighbors on 27th were patient and supportive and we thank them for allowing us to join them on one of the prettiest blocks in Church Hill.
