Imaginary street repair
10/15/2010 10:09 PM by John M
This was taken this morning (the 15th) and represents the fourth time that signs have been up asking our community to move our cars in order to resurface the street. As you can tell, the only thing that’s been accomplished in a month-and-a-half is a strip down the center of the street which was done before the endless requests to move our cars even began.
Some streets have been done. I was just on 32nd the other day and they’re finished, sort of.
They were working on 29th Street today. Have patience, the rain has played havoc on the paving schedule.
I am completely willing to move my car one night, even two nights, for road work but to put FOUR days on the notices is pretty inconsiderate.
I called the city and they blamed it on the rain, which doesn’t explain Tuesday and Wednesday, nor Friday. I certainly don’t mind accomodating improvements, but to have the signs up for four days and nothing? They should take them down when they know they’re not going to do it. So we can look forward to another posting of four days with less than 24 hrs. notice.
Just move your car… it’s not that big of a deal.
The bigger issue here is the quality of the work. You’ll have to deal with that for years. If it sucks, complain about that, not about having to move your car.
I just called the City and voiced my frustration with the repaving in Church Hill. If you care to do the same, here is the info:
