Facelift coming soon for CHPN

Hey folks! A redesign is in the works for CHPN and I’d like to know this: are there things that you just hate/love about how the site works as is? Any suggestions? Comments?
Curious about what CHPN used to look like before this?
I really enjoy the site but in Church Hill there are so many events that going on without notice. I hear about them after they have passed. Is there a way to maybe get links, calendar, articles, etc., about what’s happening in the area?
Only a suggestion. I know it’s easier said than done.
Thanks
What makes you think you can go and willy nilly change this website that has become a community resource? How will the change affect the neighborhood? Have you taken it to CAR or the planning commission yet?
I used internet exlorer 8 in windows Vista. The following nav links at the top and bottom of the homepage don’t work for me. contact subscribe crime directory classifieds calendar. I get 404 errors when clicked.
I like the vertical set-up; it’s easy to focus on the articles when they are all lined up going down the middle, with extra things lining the side.
Can you do an auto-refresh like google news so I can quickly see if there’s a new comment or post while the page is open in my tabbed browser?
The “crime” link used to show a map of the entire Church Hill area with all reported incidents flagged for reference. I wish that could be resurrected as it was very helpful to get a quick overview of neighborhood safety issues.
Thanks for all your work keeping us informed!
Can you set it up so we can “like” articles on FB or like comments we may agree with?
Agree with PTG in #4 – I too like the current format. Also, CHPN is one of the fastest loading sites I visit (the TimesDispatch is the worst). Not being particularly tech savvy, I don’t know what makes it so quick, but hope we don’t lose that capability.
I think its a bit busy with ads and events/other blog contents on both sides of the main portion of the page. Could you place “non-Chpn content” in a single bar to the right of the main content. Thanks for all you do!
#9, Advertising is what pays for the site, so it need to be up front and center.
I miss the classifieds on the front page.
I agree with #6, I thoroughly appreciated that feature.
There’s something that makes typing comments from my mobile (iPhone) S-L-O-W. The characters pop up in the text box on a significant delay. Thi is fairly new- it didn’t used to do this. I wonder if it’s related to the comment preview box.
I agree #4, & disagree #9. It’s nice to see events & other news/ comments along the sides w/ the center for the articles. Keep up the great work, John!
