The Storefront for Community Design opens February 14:

The Storefront works with homeowners, organizations and businesses to encourage quality community development and strengthen the legacy of our urban neighborhoods through education, advocacy and participation.

Hope you can make it by to meet the volunteers and see the new home on Febraury 14, 2011 from 10am – 2pm. This is exciting.

This is awesome news! This is what so many people have been asking for, especially since we have a handful of historic districts in our greater Church Hill community. This will help folks make more informed decisions about changes/repairs/additions to their homes and commercial buildings.

Councilwoman Cynthia I. Newbille invites everyone to Grand Opening of Storefront for Community Design in Richmond’s Church Hill North Neighborhood

First Richmond-Area Community Architectural Design Center

WHAT The Honorable Cynthia I. Newbille, Councilwoman, Richmond City Council, East End 7th District, invites everyone to the Grand Opening/Ribbon-Cutting and Open House will be held for the new Storefront for Community Design, which plans to be a nonprofit Richmond-Area community architectural design center that provides affordable individual, neighborhood and commercial consulting, planning, facilitation and education.

Storefront for Community Design services are to include such things as schematic drawings for home projects, conceptual planning for commercial areas, community park planning, neighborhood facilitation and providing assistance to local government agencies.

The creation of Storefront for Community Design represents the collaborative efforts of architects, neighborhood residents, civic organizations, nonprofits, design professionals, business owners, elected and government officials, and academic partners who wanted to provide affordable community architectural design services to help continue the improvement of our neighborhoods and business districts.

This event is free and open to the public and the entire community is invited and encouraged to attend.
