The Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week for last week:
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who assaulted a Letter Carrier in the 5400 block of Blue Ridge Ave. Richmond, VA 23231. The victim was assaulted at about 12:15 pm on February 3, 2011. The suspect was described as:
Suspect – Black male, early 20’s, 5’11”, thin build, medium to dark complexion, 1 inch afro style hair cut, clean shaven. Dark colored pants, red shirt, and a black coat.
who is stupid enough to rob a mailman? The odds of getting somehing fungible are minimal. And I believe it is considered a federal crime.
Why was the carrier assulted? Did the thug think the carrier was holding his mail or something??
The carrier should have used the mace which they carry for wild dogs!
The letter carrier was assulted by this thug because she was trying to get him to stop beating his girlfriend in the street. Maybe if 1st Precinct would patrol the area a little more this wouldn’t have happened. After speaking with a local business owner it appears that patrols of the area are lacking. He stated he can go hours without ever seeing a patrol car. Sad.
