The East End has had 1 homicide in 2011, a late-January killing in Mosby Court for which an arrest has been made. Last year at this time the area had seen 5 killings after a bloody beginning of April left 3 people dead. In 2009, likely best year in at least the last 40 years for the East End, there were 3 murders by now. By this point in April 1994, Richmond’s worst year, there were already 12 dead in the East End.
TAGGED: crime
What about gun violence? Are shootings up/down in the East End? Do you have statistics related to gun violence, John?
Anecdotally, it feels like there have been fewer shootings in the East End this year, but I’ve got no data on that.
The RPD’s Crime Information Center doesn’t break out Aggravated Assault, only Assault and the difference is enough to give pause to the number. Regardless, for some kind of statistical comparison however weak, this year we’ve had 127 assaults in Sector 113 compared to 163 in Sector 113 last year at this time.
Encouraging stuff, John.
Very encouraging!! Thanks, John!!
