04/08/2011 1:30 PM by John M
The Storefront for Community Design is is facilitating this first of two looks at our parks on Monday:
Gillie’s Creek Park founders Carl Otto and Wyatt Kingston will tell the story of the park’s founding and growth into one of the East End’s great public recreational spaces. To be followed by a facilitated public design charrette for Horseshoe Pit Shelters.
Lunch provided by A Sharper Palate Catering Company. Space is limited. RSVP to info@storefrontrichmond.org or 804 322 9556)
Interesting article about this park in Style Weekly:

Well, they do some bike races in Chimborazo Park, right? What would happen if people just started parking cars on the grass wherever they want in any of the city parks (or national)?
I would be very interested in seeing something about the relationship between the Storefront and the late non-profit, Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods. They seem to be getting into some of the same programs that ACORN once did.
Are they simply picking up that banner, or did The Storefront somehow supersede ACORN and its programs? Has anybody interviewed the principals of The Storefront to determine their goals? They seem to have some ex-ACORN staff.
#3, the Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods recently merged with the Better Housing Coalition. You can find information about the Storefront on their web site: http://www.storefrontrichmond.org/
