Appraisal Fair at St.John’s on Saturday

Three nationally and internationally known appraisers will be at the Appraisal Fair at St.John’s on Saturday, on 4/16/2011 1from 10AM-4:30PM. From 12:30-1PM there will be a lecture on Colonial church silver, given by Janine Skerry, the curator of fine metals and jewelry for Colonial Williamsburg.

Josephine Thrasher has for many years done work with the Smithsonian, Monticello, the Metropolitan Museum, and other great museums along with many private estate appraisals in the US. She will look at your furniture, artwork, porcelain, and silver.

James Hunter Johnson has worked with the DAR on their exhibits for many years, and has extensive experience with nearly all of the Washington, DC museums, working with them on their collections. He will also appraise your furniture, art, porcelains, and silver items.

Martin Fuller will be our jewelry appraiser. He has travelled all over the world for private and public clients and museums. He recently returned from a project at Windsor Castle in order to appraise Madeline Albright’s pin collection for her exhibit at the Smithsonian museum. He will be giving a lecture at the Smithsonian in May about the art of carving gemstones, and will have an international master carver as his guest for the lecture.

From 12:30 till 1:00 there will be a lecture on Colonial church silver, given by Janine Skerry, the curator of fine metals and jewelry for Colonial Williamsburg. As a part of the lecture, pieces of St. John’s Colonial silver pieces will be displayed and discussed.
