Help take care of the new neighborhood trees

The Richmond Tree Stewards want your help in watering the city’s new street trees with their “How to Water 2,000 Trees” project:
It simply is not possible to take care of this many trees without community assistance. All we are asking is that folks who have a new street tree (planted this year or last) near their home, church or business water that tree. Directions for summer tree care (useful to anyone with trees) are on our website.
Like the trees. Would have been nice if they got planted by houses that clearly show the owners are capable of taking care of them. Two on my street by abandoned homes or by homes where the weeds are 3 feet tall. Clearly if the owner doesn’t care about their own home they aren’t gonna care about a community tree.
How does one get on the list for a tree? We have an empty square in front of the house where a tree used to stand and would love to get a replacement.
