The Church Hill Challenge
Elliott has invented a walking food tour challenge of Church Hill:
I just got a crazy idea: There is a series of amazing restaurants between the traffic circle at 25th Jefferson and M and my house. We need to capitalize on that.
I call it the Church Hill Challenge.
The basic idea is a walking and eating challenge tour that begins at The Roosevelt with something yummy, and then winds to down Jefferson to Alamo BBQ for Texas Train Wreck, back to 25th via Clay to OMG Café for chicken and waffles, a stop at Captain Buzzy’s for caffeine, then to Buff’s Corner for a slice, and then to Str8 Outta Philly for the full 18 inch sub.
If I may, I suggest either the pork belly or the burger as The Roosevelt’s contribution. Unless they’ve got the pig tails that night…
Don’t forget about “House of Homemade”. It would also be nice if there a way to tie in fund raising for the Chimbo IB program to this event… Maybe some kind of Church Hill version of Broad-apetit?
Either way we need to exploit the Church Hill cuisine!
Don’t forget Hill Cafe, Patrick Henry and Poe’s (since it’s on the foot of the hill, it counts ;-)). I’d love to see a food festival here also.
I think Church Hill restaurants should create “Church Hill Restaurant Week” and work together to market the amazing restaurants and neighborhood joints that are old and new in Church Hill, even if it’s just to area homes and businesses. Or some sort of Church Hill resident discount to encourage area patrons to support their neighborhood restaurants.

Enough with the hate, Maxwell.
I’d totally do this.
The things you think of when you’re throwing away all of your food.

#8,
What does that mean?
I love this idea. We are so grateful for all the restaurants that have planted themselves in the CH neighborhood. I also agree with #1 about connecting this challenge with a fundraiser event for Chimborazo’s IB program. If anyone head’s this up, speak with Chimborazo’s CIS coordinator.
Sounds like the makings of a great food tour! Real Richmond will get right on it. We already have a Shockoe Bottom/Church Hill tour and were planning to head further up the Hill. Happy to tie in w/ Chimborazo IB program.
