Free Flu Shot Clinic

In order to kick-off National Influenza Vaccination Week the Richmond City Health District has joined with area community groups and public interest organizations to conduct a free vaccination clinic on Saturday, December 3rd. Held at the 31st Street Baptist Church from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, the event will feature a myth-busting press conference with local community health leaders, the First Lady’s Let’s Move Dance, DJ services provided by Radio One’s Clovia, giveaways, and most importantly, FREE flu vaccinations!

Mobile food pantry at Chimborazo ES

Communities In Schools at Chimborazo Elementary School, in partnership with the Central Virginia Food Bank, is hosting a monthly mobile food pantry. The food pantry will serve over 200 families from the school with fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and meat. This event meets one of the great needs of the Church Hill and Fulton neighborhood for healthy and affordable food. Volunteers will assign and distribute vouchers to parents/guardians, sort, bag, and distribute groceries to families in need.
A brief orientation will be given at the start of the project. Parking is on Marshall, 29th, or 31st Streets next to the school. Wear comfortable clothing.

Open Mic @ Poe\’s

All musicians welcome! Support local business and local music talent. Music open Mic is every Tuesday at Poe’s. Hosted by local CH resident, Jim Daab. Sign-up is at 8:30 pm. Bring your own instruments and tell your friends. Jim has instruments and congas that you can use as well.

Holiday decorations workshops at St.John’s Church

St. John’s Church will be hosting two holiday decorations workshops, led by Richmond’s own wildly creative DAVID PIPPIN, Floral Designer. “Fresh * Festive * Fun CHRISTMAS DESIGNS”, will take place on Friday, December 9, from 10 am to 12 Noon and will be a lecture/demonstration. David will teach participants how to create dazzling designs to decorate their homes for the holidays, using Nature’s bounty from the garden interspersed with flowers.

Winter Parade

Central Montessori School will hold its second annual Winter Parade December 9. We will walk from the school to Fire House One on the corner of 25th and Broad. We will bring cookies as a token of our appreciation for our First Responders and children’s seasonal songs
19th Annual James River Parade of Lights

The 19th Annual James River Parade of Lights, a boat parade sponsored by the James River Advisory Council, will be held Saturday, Dec. 10. Boats decorated with thousands of lights will cruise the James between Richmond and Henrico and Chesterfield counties. Multiple viewing sites, several of which provide additional entertainment, make it easy for people throughout the region to view this spectacular holiday tradition on the James. Admission is free to all sites. Libby Hill Park, corner of 28th and East Franklin streets, entertainment begins at 4:30 p.m., parade viewing at 6 p.m.
Jefferson Park Tree Decorating

Friends and neighbors of Union Hill are invited to gather from 9am til 9:45am on Saturday December 10th to help decorate the Holiday Tree in Jefferson Park. Please bring a mug of your favorite warm beverage and something to put on the tree. Lights for the tree will be provided. If you want to bring some breakfasty baked goods to share, they would be welcomed.
This will also be an opportunity to try out the newly built stairs in Jefferson Park, as well as meeting and celebrating with neighbors.
