Anybody else smell a Kroger donation to Mayor Jones’ reelection fund associated with this one. Sucks for the Market.
One hour doesn’t seem like much time to do a whole month’s shopping, including waiting in line, etc. I’d bump it to at least 1.5 hours.
Overall, I like the idea of the grocery shuttles. This has the potential of really helping out a lot of folks.
However, the prices are cheaper and the selection is greater @ Kroger. That said, we shop at the Market quite often (at least weekly.)
But if I were really watching my pennies, and had more mouths to feed, I’d opt for the free ride to Kroger.
Compare prices and Kroger is a hands down winner. Does The Market jack prices because of the lack of competition? They have a shuttle so their captive audience is in a real bind. The vegetables are sub-prime, the prices of canned goods exorbitant and the deli is really beyond mention. On the other hand, their cashiers are first rate, courteous and knowledgeable.
Michael #4, actually I’m seeing an improvement in the deli at The Market. I wandered around there yesterday trying to figure out what to get for lunch at work, and came out with very reasonably priced stuff (piece of quiche paired with baked Fuji apples, priced at less than four bucks, and that was two full lunch meals for me). They’ve made some changes. Still need improvement, but there is definitely a difference.
Prices there are overall more than Kroger, I agree, and particularly if I were buying for a month and doing some serious budgeting.
