Church Hill Irish Festival 2012
The 27th Annual Church Hill Irish Festival takes over Broad and 25th on Sat/Sun March 24/25. The festival begins on Saturday with the St. Patrick’s Parade and continues all weekend with a 4-block street fair in front of St. Patrick’s Church on North 25th Street between Broad and Franklin Streets. The inaugural Hill Topper 5k takes off at 8AM on Sunday.
More than 45 traditional Irish musicians, local bands, dancers, and bagpipers will perform on two stages throughout the weekend. Sponsored by Guinness, this year’s line-up includes Uisce Beatha, The Janet Martin Band, The Bart Chucker Band, Tinkers Damn, Echolalia, Powder Keg, Haze and the Transients, and many other local favorites. Celtic/Irish crafts and merchandise, family fun, children’s games in a huge kid’s area, food, refreshments, and more.
The inaugural Hill Topper 5k Race will kick off at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 25. The race through the Historic Church Hill neighborhood will begin and end at 25th and Broad Streets, and will benefit the neighborhood and The Robinson Theater. Come out and run with us!
A $2.00 donation will be requested at the gate.
Free Shuttle parking located at 16th and East Broad Streets.
Proceeds benefit St. Baldrick’s Society, St. Francis Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Church Hill Crime Watch, Child Saver’s Clinic of Richmond, St. Peter’s Meals Program, The Conrad Center, Stone Circle of Friends, Cullather Brain Tumor Quality of Life Center at Bon Secours, St. John’s Church, Prevent Blindness Virginia and many other neighborhood causes, and St. Patrick’s Church, “a little church with a big heart,” built in 1859 by Irish immigrants.
It’s so nice to see all the happy comments instead of the usual whining about the Irish Festival. It’s one of my favorite times to be a Churchillian – I hope the weather is as lovely as it was this weekend!
Weather outlook is positive as of now…

SO EXCITED ABOUT THE 5K!
Doesn’t seem like it’ll be too hot for the 5K. Looking forward to my first Irish Festival as an official Hill resident!
Sweet! I live in NOVA and I typically go to the Alexandira Irish Day Parade.
However, I’ve never been to the Church Hill Festival in our beautiful capital Richmond, VA. Ah, another day of people throwing up and acting like asses… Hazzah!
@Kilt–nah, this is much more family-oriented. Everyone puked and acted like asses down here last week at Shamrock the Block. 😀
Looking forward to it 🙂
Don’t let the weather scare anyone off. The festival will go on and we have some awesome food (great prices too) as usual so come on out for lunch and dinner both days
