Gardening Volunteers needed at Chimborazo Elementary

Looking for Gardening Volunteers at Chimborazo Elementary School (3000 East Marshall Street) on Saturday April 7 at 10AM we will be filling new raised vegetable beds with soil, planting, and mulching. Please come with your round and square shovels, and wheel barrows. Let’s grow some flowers and vegetables for the kids!

Green Unity Community Garden Workdays

On Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Green Unity at VCU will continue to construct the first ever VCU community garden at the Jonah L. City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

VCU Community Garden Workshop

On Sunday, April 15th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Green Unity at VCU will host its first organic gardening workshop at VCU’s newly constructed community garden. located at MCV’s Jonah L. Larrick Center, 900 Turpin Street. While here, learn basic organic gardening skills, like improving soil quality, water-saving techniques, mulching, weeding, organic pest-control, and more! This event is free of charge for volunteers and garden plot owners. All others are requested to pay $5. Proceeds will be used to further Green Unity’s community outreach effort. This event is open to all community members.
