Man shot by police on Mosby Street
05/12/2012 7:31 PM by John M
A man was shot and wounded by Richmond police after a brief pursuit by officers responding to a report of an armed person near the 700 block of Mosby Street, a police spokeswoman said tonight.
Get em’. Nice shooting’ Tex!
Last I checked, it was legal to be armed in public. There’s got to be more to this story?
As someone who’s closely related to police officers, let me give you an idea–if a weapon is displayed and the person displaying it is taunting cops (“challenging,” as the news story goes) you best believe that the cops will haul out their guns. Too many cops gunned down on routine traffic stops, domestic violence calls and the like not to be trained to do that.
You can be armed in public as long as the gun is in a holster, in plain view, and you are not a convicted felon. A guy that used to live across the street from me was carrying a side arm for a while and it freaked me out so I called the police to ask. He had a lot of problems with the weight of the gun and his baggy pants. It wasn’t a cool combo and he eventually quit wearing the gun. He’s since been sent to jail for a really long time, from what I understand. Drugs, not for shooting someone.
