Donate water or mints?
05/14/2012 6:15 AM by John M
Chimborazo Elementary is seeking donations of water bottles and mints for students for their SOL tests:
We need about 500 bottles of water and large bags of mints for the SOLS. We are not asking for any one organization or group of people to donate all 500 bottles. In fact, Chimborazo will accept donations of one water bottle to five hundred water bottles!
Contact Caitlin Roberts at (804) 780-8392 ext. 321 or croberts@cisofrichmond.org if you can help out.
why? what for? refreshment? how about paper cups of tap water?
i was told my comment needed moderation. i’m wondering why little kids need plastic bottles of water, or is it plastic bottles without water? why not give them drinks of tap water from paper cups? nice to provide refreshment for SOL testing, but 500 plastic bottles?
I have already sent a message to Caitlin but got no response about this. Water bottles are environmentally harmful. It would be much better to provide paper cups and a reusable water dispenser for each classroom if the students cannot go out to the water fountain during the tests. I would be willing to contribute to this effort.
What ever happened to common sense? I remember taking tests as a kid and being allowed to go to the water fountain on breaks.
in addition, if the kids guzzle whole bottles of water the teachers will have a serious bathroom-break issue.
@5 – This is why they want bottles and not plastic cups. The empty bottle can serve double duty once the kids fill their bladders up from all that water.
