Chimbo Playground Community Gardens Work Day

Got an Itch to Garden? Join us as we do some edging, weeding, mulching, planting, painting, and turning compost. Learn about Sub Irrigated Planters. There will be some kid jobs (6 yrs & up) like painting, weeding and planting. Please leave dogs at home.
Wear sunscreen, clothing that can get dirty, and bring garden gloves,if you have some. Hats and sunglasses help. We will provide the tools. Water and snack provided. Sign up by May 18. chimbo@tricyclegardens.org. Rain Date June 9

Along with the City of Richmond and Bon Secours, Edible Education is leading a community-wide effort to celebrate healthy eating May 15-22. I would like to introduce you to a Nava (Beautiful) Life through the physical practice of Yoga.
The physical practice of Yoga is the sequencing/flow of poses (asanas) that link the body and mind through the threading of breath and movement. The practice cultivates physical, mental and emotional balance, openness, intelligence, strength and well-being. It brings your body, mind and spirit into harmony and health to create a Nava Life. Class Level: Beginners – Intermediate. You will need a Yoga mat, blanket or large towel to practice on, a bottle of water and an open heart. This is a FREE event. No class if rain.

This Sunday Rachel’s Farmstand will be at the Libby Hill Park Yard Sale from 9am-2pm, offering fresh organic home-grown produce, local eggs, honey, jam, and egg noodles from Faith Farms. I’ll also be selling rain barrels, compost bins & more to benefit Green Unity’s Community Outreach efforts in Union Hill and beyond.

The Virginia Street Farmer’s Market opens May 10, 2012 on Virginia Street in the Shockoe Design District. This lively market will run Thursdays 3pm – 7pm through October 25, 2012 and will be located in the area around the Virginia Street Gallery and near the Canal Walk and Turning Basin.
