Beaver in Libby Hill park?
07/04/2012 8:57 AM by John M
I was in Libby Hill Park tonight and saw this guy run in to a gutter near the bottom of the park on the cobble stone in to what looked like a drainage hole that needs maintenance. I got pretty close to him before he freaked out and disappeared all the way in to the hole.
Strange site for Church Hill.
Ground hog, not beaver. There I a whole family that has lived there for a while.

It’s a woodchuck! I’ve seen them in Libby Hill Park and at the base of the hill near the 26th Street steps.
yup, that’s definitely a ground hog. we/ve seen em from time to time in Chimborazo park in the “wildlife” area. very shy; also known as “whistle pigs” due to the whistling sound they make to warn other groundhogs when danger is approaching (e.g. human, dog, etc.)
Hmm? I thought we were talking about another type of beaver…
That Kangaroo stole my ball!
Its a honey badger
That beaver has been in the park the last 6 years. We’ve seen it walking our dogs. It’s always budy scurrying around.
Wow, that’s pretty amazing Jfos. Do you think I could get it to walk my cats too?
(Sorry, I couldn’t resist).
I’m surprised no one has claimed its a historic contributing animal to the district.
Aren’t the parks just looking lovely this time of year with traffic cones and weeds and broken sidewalks? Just wonderful.
