Jefferson Town Homes project could break ground by October

Richmond BizSense has the word on the latest planned for Jefferson Town Homes:
Developer Ron Hunt and his company Genesis Homes are building a 151-unit, 173,000-square-foot apartment complex at Cedar and 19th streets, according to a development plan submitted last week to the city. The four-story development sits on 3.5 acres and will be known as Cedar Street Apartments. The existing Jefferson Town Homes will be torn down to make way for the new Genesis project.
A version of this project has been in the works since at least 2010. The apartments to be torn down and replaced are the town homes south of Venable Street.

I was hoping to see a new street grid incorporated into this project to give the area more of an urban feel. Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing suburban-style development in an urban area.
By description only, without having seen any drawing for this, it sounds like it will have a more urban feel that what it is there now – 4 stories, closer to the sidewalk.
Anybody seen anything on what this is supposed to look like?
I’ve been forwarded drawings for the project and have updated the post.
Definitely more urban but the large areas of surface parking are blah.
If these drawings are accurate, this would be a tremendous improvement. Please proceed!
Definitely an improvement!
This isn’t perfect, but the neighborhood association did its best to shape the outcome with the tools we had. The developer agreed to re-zone the property to R-63 (which was our original request back in 2009). That was essential to getting the buildings along the street and hiding surface parking. He also agreed to retain, but limit, the number of subsidized units to less than 20 percent. The remainder will be market rate. In addition, he profferred masonry and cementitious siding, screening of surface parking, street trees, 30 bike racks, and a community meeting space open to the neighborhood. This is indeed an improvement over what is there.
So they split the complex in two? And the ones facing Venable will still stand?
How do we find rental info on this property??
