Armstrong beats TJ for 8th straight year

The Armstrong Wildcats opened the 2012 season last night with a 24-12 victory over the Thomas Jefferson Vikings, snapping the Vikings’ one game winning streak. This is the 8th straight season that Armstrong has beaten Thomas Jefferson.

Next up for the Wildcats are the John Marshall Justices (1-0), who are coming off of a season-opening 28-0 win over Huguenot. (FRIDAY 7PM @Armstrong)

The last pre-season rankings in the Capital District put the Wildcats 8th in the 8 team league, just behind of the Glen Allen Jaguars. The Wildcats have had losing records since 2006, when they went 5-5. Entering play last night, the Wildcats were ranked #219 in the state, out of 306 high school programs. Armstrong’s schedule has 3 games against teams in the top 50 and 5 with teams in the top 100: Hanover (#31), Varina (#40), Atlee (#49), Highland Springs (#55), and Lee-Davis (#82).
