RAT ALERT
09/23/2012 8:39 PM by John M
There’s a flyer being passed out around Jefferson and 24th about a possible rat infestation in the wooded lot behind SHRIMP BURGER.
what is shrimp burger? it links to family market. is that the one on the corner where all the dudes sit around drinking all day and pissing in the woods? GROSS.
I saw one scampering about in broad daylight at 25th & Broad st yesterday. I was assuming it had just deposited cheese at Suntrust.
Let me guess… It’s probably someone’s pet right?
I saw such a “rodent of unusual size” in that area a few weeks ago…
Leave the rats alone.
What do you think they make the “shrimp” burgers out of?
This is what happens when we get all the stray cats off the streets…
I’m a reporter with 8News. We are working on a story about this today. Is anyone who lives in the area willing to talk to me about this? It’s for the 5pm news. Just e-mail me back at nyanes@wric.com with your number in it and I’ll give you a call.
Do you know who is passing these flyers out?
@7. No, feral cats are not the answer here. The problem is that we have a convenience store (that includes a fried-food take-out service) that improperly discards food waste (grease, scraps and other trash) in the area directly behind the store. They also fail promptly pick up food waste and litter in the vicinity of their store.
It isn’t restricted to just that neighborhood. We have had rat issues on our block for several years now, mostly due to empty buildings that occasionally get stirred up with minor repairs that chase them out. It only takes two to make thousands if left alone. Cat’s are not very useful when dealing with rats almost their own size!
#7, nope. Cats actually preferentially hunt birds, not rodents.
Folks go into these woods and never come
out. Haunted, they say.
@13 & 5 Kind of wish there was a “like” function on CHPN.
We recently had a bunch of mice in our house, but actually never have seen a rat my time in CH.
