Driver abandons moving car on 27th Street

ABOVE: 1 of the 9 cars hit [via]
“A driver apparently jumped out of their still-moving vehicle in the 400 or 500 block of North 27th Street. The car went three blocks driverless, sideswiping numerous cars down 27th and coming to rest against the back bumper of a parked car.”
Anybody got any photos?
When? Tonight? On Halloween? Mere blocks away from where a street was shut down so children could trick or treat?
Sounds like another failed attempt at a “Knight Rider” Halloween costume. When will people learn?
Was it Louis? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=bXUG_IYcNoQ#!
A man that was running down the street was handcuffed in our neighbor’s backyard. At one point there were at least 6 cop cars blocking the street afterwards… all while trick-or-treaters were walking down the sidewalk.
@Ziti: That was my thought. Kit went rogue so he could trick-or-treat, too!
So am I reading this right? Some jackass intentionally abandoned their car running and aimed at a street where a bunch of little kids were trick or treating? What a psycho!
If this is correct, I hope they would charge them with multiple counts of attempted murder.
It happened in front of our house. In fact, the driver jumped out of the car right beside mine and ran but the police was right behind him – jumped his cruiser and caught the crook while the car was running on its own down the street. Damages happened starting in front of 409 N 27th and traveled down to mid 600 block crossing two intersections, bouncing off cars like a pinball, and kids still on the street for Halloween.
The officer that caught the guy (who was orginally stopped for a traffic violation on 32nd Street, took off and a chase followed. The cop was pissed and rightfully so.

It was Birch!!!!
@CM Unfortunately, upon reading the WRIC article, the perp looks nothing like David Hasselhoff, so the Knight Rider theory seems to be false.
Glad no one was hurt, and kudos to the police for getting the “driver”.
On a related topic, a driver bashed into a bunch of parked cars on E Broad b/w 22nd and 23rd a few weeks back. A white SUV parked on the south side of the street got totaled. Was there ever any arrest for that one?
Driver Jumps From Car During Police Chase, Hits 9 Vehicles

If I hadn’t been out on the street to see why there were so many cop cars outside, I wouldn’t believe it either. The car drove through TWO intersections on its own before being stopped by a parked car it plowed into the back of. Like one of my neighbors said, if it had happened only an hour earlier, there would have been a ton of trick or treaters out on that very street.

What a dumbass.
Where was that big ugly boat when we needed it.
That would have stopped the runaway car in it’s tracks!
