Bicyclist killed on Mechanicsville Turnpike

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an incident in which a bicyclist was killed Thursday afternoon.
The bicyclist, Luther M. Jefferson, 62, of the 1800 block of Maddox Street, was riding southbound on Mechanicsville Turnpike when he and a box truck collided near the I-64 off ramp. Jefferson was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died several hours later.
The driver of the box truck was uninjured. He will not be identified unless charges are filed.
Good God #RVA drivers!!! How much carnage will it take before you pay attention and allow cyclists their legitimate, rightful though small piece of the road?!?!?!
