Richmond’s last CAPS (combined with MPACT) meeting was in the summer…that neighborhood conduit has pretty successfully been shut down. And though for some reason not widely publicized, the budget planning session for district 7 – with the mayor – which has been stated as the reason for putting the MPACT meetings on hold, IS scheduled for December 12, according to the city’s site. So, six months of not being able to address neighborhood concerns via CAPS in exchange for a meeting with the mayor?
The old 1st District CAPS meetings were one of the best “get stuff done/fixed” opportunities in the city, very important on-the-ground attention to neighborhood needs.
John, when things get fixed at the on-the-ground level, nobody gets credit in the press. I don’t think the city’s too interested in neighborhoods getting stuff “done/fixed” at the grass roots level.
