Interview: Alicia Rasin

John at One Way Richmond has a great, long interview with Alicia Rasin (and names her as the OWR Richmonder of the Year 2012):

Alicia Rasin is the woman that consoles, organizes, and provides spiritual support for families of those who have been murdered in Richmond. Unfortunately, this past year the murder rate in Richmond has gone back up, and Alicia Rasin’s services are in high demand. It isn’t like the 90’s, but it is creeping back up to a very concerning number. For over twenty years I’ve seen Ms. Rasin on the local and national TV news going far beyond the calling of a community advocate/ organizer. I don’t know how she does it. She explained to me, that it was her calling from God, and even when she considers ‘retiring,’ it is just that, a thought. She can’t leave her brothers and sisters, for her compassion takes over, even if it puts her in the most horrific situations.
