“Owner has dropped trash/bulk items in middle of sidewalk”
01/25/2013 3:43 PM by John M
Construction materials dumped on sidewalk. Owners clearly threw intact toilet onto sidewalk, which has been lying broken in pieces within the pile for two weeks. Owners should be cited for dangerous/hazardous illegal dumping.
Ya know- it’s crap like this that give renovators a bad name. Shoot me an address- Id like to look up the owner.
The link above says it’s at 3408 East Marshall Street
Is this not littering? You’re telling me a police officer hasn’t rode by and seen this?
I actually think this is from the house on the corner of Marshall and Chimborazo. There is no alley running behind this building. I say building because its a sketchy former corner retail thing.
sheesh just get a truck at lowes or home depot & take it to the dump yourself! these owners are just lazy!!!!
I love how the city closed this issue on SeeClickFix:
“We are sorry but there is no code violation on this property as the shrubbery is not impeding on any public walkway.”
Clearly, the issue is shrubbery.
That’s not a code violation, but I come home to a citation on my door for other people’s trash (and “shrubbery”, apparently) in the alley behind my house that backs up to Chimbo Market?
Clearly, I am spending way too much time and money on making my house look nice from the street and getting rid of debris when I complete a project. I need to focus on my alley.
Rubbish !
I suspect it is at least littering, since the trash was not put in an approved container for pick up. But the city official was just lazyand wanted to close some issues.
In the past, I’ve called the City’s garbage collection department when neighbors leave trash on the sidewalk, such as this, and it’s been picked up within a day. I made it clear to them that it wasn’t my trash so I didn’t get charged for bulk collection. Though not my responsibility, at least it gets picked up.
@Veronica: Hilarious! Is “impede on” really a legal state of being? And am I the only one who immediately thinks of inappropriate uses for the expression? It sounds like something a fire hydrant would say; I had no idea the city felt that way, too.
As an update, I spoke with a coordinator at the City. Anything resembling construction debris cannot be removed via bulk pickup request. The city only disposes of household trash and items. Per the City, this warrants a citation, accompanying fine and the homeowner pays for removal. The coordinator was following up with the appropriate parties to make sure it’s addressed quickly. So, over a week later and the pile remains. So does the couch around the corner on Chimborazo. I’m sure the City inspector saw it when he drove by to inspect this issue.
