I have no idea! Our power went out on E. Marshall around 11:30 and didn’t come back for several hours – I called Dominion and all they said was that there was a widespread outage in the area.
Ours just blinked about 4 times; enough to throw the streetlights out but nothing major on 25th.
We’re on Broad at 27th and we had two or three flicker episodes maybe around 10:30 last night but were lucky that we didn’t actually lose power.
Oregon Hill used to experience brownouts and blackouts all the time. Fluctuations took a toll on appliances.
Now Oregon Hill has a lot less power problems. I am not saying I single handedly did it, because certainly there were other factors, but by putting a grid tied solar system on my roof I helped compel Dominion Power to improve the antique micro-grid in the neighborhood.

The more residences, schools, and businesses that connect solar to the grid, the more resilient the grid becomes.

We don’t need more fossil fuel plants (coal or nuclear), we need more distributed renewable energy production. Pushing for better, smarter technology also improves overall efficiency and conservation.
luckily it didn’t get Union Hill but apparently was out up to 27th street…we had to close the pub early! would love to know what caused it….perhaps an accident with a transformer.
I know my clocks were blinking this morning and they were off by a good hour, so I must have lost power sometime during the night. I’m on Broad between 26th and 27th.
Dominion crews were roaming the streets around Cedar Street between 25th and 27th. Took about an hour or two, but the lights came back on by 1 or 1:30. I have to give Dominion credit, they acted fast to get the lights (and heat!!) back on!
