Have you seen Gulliver or Leo?
02/03/2013 3:33 PM by John M
Gulliver and Leo: Last seen Friday 2/1 on the 400 block of Chimborazo Blvd. They are male house cats without collars that have disappeared. Fairly shy, Gulliver is a brownish striped tabby, and Leo is a Russian blue grey cat. Any information would be great, $50 reward for found cats.

Hi! I’m your neighbor from a few doors down (I feed the feral colony on Chimbo). Your roommate stopped by and filled me in, so I’m on alert and keeping an eye out. If they go anywhere, they’ll likely end up here because of the food I keep out back. I’ll contact you if I see them, and no reward necessary. I hope you find them soon!!!
Good news! We found Leo and Gulliver last night. Thank you to everyone who called and emailed!
yay!!! I’m so glad!
So glad they have been found….I BEG everyone who has indoor/outdoor cats to PLEASE keep them indoors! From working at animal hospitals I have seen this story play out way too many times, usually ending in heartbreak. Outside is filled with way too many dangers for a cat. Yes they “like being outside”, but it greatly reduces their lifespan. Just because your kids like ice cream and pizza doesn’t mean you give it to them daily. Perhaps try setting aside a little time every day to go out with your cats, then take them back into your home. At least that way they can have outside time and be supervised. If you have to bring them out individually, do it that way. Losing a precious pet is not worth the pain and guilt the owner feels from letting them roam around on their own.
@4 Lori – You are absolutely correct. However, allow me to make two additional suggestions. One, have all pets microchipped…whether they are indoor-only or in and out. It’s fast, easy and inexpensive. Two, if you want to give your cat outdoor time, purchase a cat leash/harness or an outdoor enclosure or pen that is made for cats. Both are sold at local pet stores and online. My former neighbor used to carry their cat across the street to play in the park until one fateful day when the cat got spooked, jumped to the ground and ran across E. Broad. Sadly, it didn’t end well.
