SeeClickFix: brick sidewalk in Church Hill

This grotty stretch of sidewalk was reported on See Click Fix 8 days ago. As of today, it is the top vote getter in the Richmond area with 35 votes (2nd place is in the Fan):
The brick sidewalk at the corner of 27th and Marshall is in bad shape. A tree root has tore up most of the walkable part between the bakery and the bike shop. There are approximately five businesses on this corner. Lots of foot traffic in the area. Is it possible it can be repaired?
Anybody want to put together a pool on when this actually gets fixed? Go vote to get this taken care of and then leave a date in the comments, I’ll hook up a prize to whoever is closest to the start date of actual repair…
We have similar messes on the west and south sides of the 2300 block of E. Grace. Not only does it look horrible, but it is also dangerous for walkers and for the possible mayhem via loose bricks.
Next time the sidewalk crew wants a little OT on a Saturday. My guess is June 1.
According to See Click Fix, my vote “will increase the chance that this gets fixed by 5%.” Assuming this holds constant across all votes, the odds of this getting fixed are 190% now!

This issue is getting a decent amount of votes – I vote 5/1/13.
I opened issues on bricks on my street last year and it took a while but they did come and replace the brick sidewalk in front of three houses on my street. By a while it was about 8 months.
I vote to have the entire sidewalk on 21st from Marshall to Main St. redone. Is this Richmond or Beirut?

It’s a shame that the situation has to be brought to the attention of the news media. The sidewalk next to my house is also is horrible condition and its been well used for years by the church on our block. I’ve seen elderly people come very close to falling several times. There are new loft apartments also on our block so now we have even more foot traffic on that sidewalk. I’ve brought the problem and the danger to the attention of the city WITH PICTURES several times. I’ve never gotten a response at all from the people who work for the city. I’ve asked Newbille to help. Nothing has happened. There are certainly plenty of tax $s coming in to the city from this area. I think we need to demand our fair share of city services. I guess the city will never fix my sidewalk because it hasn’t been on the news.
Lucky Canine, I’d suggest that you take action and report your concerns via the site. It’s a simple to use site that sends updates to all city departments and seems to be useful in addressing citizen concerns while helping the city assign work orders to get repairs done. A side benefit is that it documents issues and is trackable. It’s true that living in the city can be frustrating at times but we need to give honest feedback to the city on what improvements are needed, and hold it responsible.
