Three cats missing after Sub Rosa fire (UPDATED)
04/04/2013 1:06 PM by John M
My friend Alison lived in one of the apartments above the bakery. She and her roommate are okay and managed to get her 3 cats outside but as of now they are still missing. Wednesday is solid black, Little Man is a tall, skinny orange tabby, and Boy is white with orange patches. If you hear about or see any of them please get in touch. (a.n.hefner@gmail.com)
UPDATE 4/5/2013
The orange and white male is named Boy. He’s 3 years old. Very shy. Wednesday (or Wennie) is a solid black female. Short and stocky. Has a clipped ear. Also very skittish. 2 1/2 years old. Was feral until 6 months of age.
The orange tabby was found.
Thanks so much for your help.
What are your thoughts regarding asking animal control to borrow some humane traps? Are the cats familiar with the area? poor things must be so frightened.
Do yo all have Pics of the Cats? there are many strays in church Hill.
I’m sure they are freaked out but probably not too terrible far away. Please post back if I can help, I have a spare carrier should someone need it. And I agree with the borrowed humane trap idea esp. with some good stinky cat food inside.
Dr. Jack (Church Hill Animal Hospital) sometimes loans out humane traps for TNR efforts – you might see if she can help and if she has any tips on how best to find/trap them. Good luck!
Alison has set up a couple traps in front of the building. We are making flyers today. Unfortunately, the cats don’t have collars. Good news, though: we found the orange tabby!
Thanks to everybody who has reached out. The support means a lot.
Also, this is Alison’s # (571) 243-6430. She didn’t have internet or a phone when I left that post.
Ashley, thanks for the post. So glad you recovered one, two more to go! It is my experience that cats don’t go too far, hopefully they will show up today or tomorrow. Does she need a pet carrier? I have a spare if needed.
thank you to all for the support! We live in an amazing community.
i have two traps set directly around the house. the two still out there were rescues that i had taken in 1 and 2 yrs ago. they are very scared.
i am told they all ran back in at one point after the fire was out but were scared back out the door.
the cats will be very dirty and covered in soot. i have carriers as well.
I am keeping an eye out for your cats. I hope they get back to you safe and sound and very soon.
I’m so glad to hear one was found! I hope the other 2 are found soon as well. We’re on the lookout for them over here on E. Clay if they do decide to venture further away.
Have the other two been found? A new orange and white cat has been visiting our cat through the window lately that looks like this one….I’ve attempted catching it.
We live on 27th btw
