Sarahfran’s Soulfood coming to 25th Street
04/26/2013 4:26 PM by John M
It looks like Sarahfran’s Soulfood will be the next to have a go at 412 North 25th Street, former home of OMG Cafe, Y’alls Grill, and the 25th Street Bar and Grill. They’ve already applied for an ABC license.
Batter up.
I just took a picture of this today to send to you. Someone beat me to it. 🙂
Yay! One more place to try out!!!
We can always use more soul food here on the Hill!
Did they fix the sewage issues that plagued OMG yet?
Alex’s question is key. Also, I hope the new proprietors have thought long and hard about (and have a realistic plan for) what they can do differently to be successful in what has been a very difficult space for a restaurant.
I am always in favor of new businesses in the neighborhood, but this location is notorious for failure. I did go way back when it was ‘Y’Alls’ and really did enjoy it. But as I understand it, the person who owned the building started asking the renters who ran the business for a share of their profits. They refused, she hiked the rent up, and it pretty much forced them out of business. Just word that I heard on the street. Good luck… but sorry, I don’t see this lasting either.
All neighborhood eyes should be on this clueless landlord. Examples: (i) The passive aggressive sign on the last tenant’s door (who cares if it was true, the sign was just wrong), and (ii) the landord’s failure to make the relatively low cost curb appeal changes that would enhance their tenant’s success (replace the big windows instead of the speakeasy windows!!!)
Good luck new tenant, the neighborhood is rooting for you – but watch out for your landlord.
