Fires at East End Theater (1970)
06/03/2013 7:17 AM by John M
From the Times-Dispatch (August 5, 1970):
Thanks, John, for doing the research and posting articles like these. I’ve always wondered about the events that contributed to the decline of the theater structure.
I remember goin there every Saturday for 35 cents per movie……good times!!!!!!
Are there any earlier photos of the East End and the Patrick Henry theaters?
I went to both theaters. They had the Roy Rogers club on Saturday mornings at the East End theater.
I’ve been looking for photos for *years*. If anyone has any of either, please send them into CHPN, I’d love to share them out.
There is more info and a few photos at cinematreasures.org http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/18081
I looked on the internet and the closest pictures I could find are of its sister theatre in Fredericksburg Virginia. Cinema Treasures is a great site.

Funny, I thought I had sent these to either John or Josh a while back – and made note of the chain of events. There were actually a couple of incidents including robberies.
