Sector 111 Report for June
Lt.Minton’s Sector 111 June report (PDF) is now available. Sector 111 encompasses Church Hill, Chimborazo, Church Hill North, Fulton, Oakwood, and Union Hill:
Violent crime in May was reduced by 56%. We had 4 violent crimes compared to 9 last May. Robberies were down 5 to 0 and Aggravated Assaults stayed flat at 3. We had a homicide in May at the intersection of 27th and Q Street. Mr. Robert Bowman, AKA Smurf, was killed during an apparent robbery. We are still looking for the public’s help in solving this crime. This homicide left a 12 year old boy without a father and we need to bring closure to this family. Sometimes it’s the fine details that solve a crime please reach out to myself or call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
Property crime in May went from 52 last year to 33 this year, a reduction of –37%. Burglaries went from 8 to 7 compared to last year. Larcenies in general were down by 30%. The only larceny category that showed an increase was Theft from Buildings. These are typically larcenies that occur when people are lawfully in a residence. Example, a gun was stolen out of a house during a party. This category went from 6 to 9 in May. As you can imagine this is a difficult crime for us to prevent. We can certainly help you bring these criminals to justice though…
Motor Vehicle Thefts went from 7 to 2. One vehicle was left running outside a house for 10 minutes which makes it entirely to easy to steal. I have a list of worthwhile charities in Richmond if you would like to give things away. We also enjoyed a reduction in Theft from Motor Vehicles. I am still encouraging people to take their valuables out of their vehicles. We had computers, wallets, and purses stolen out of cars in May. Once again ask me for a list of worthwhile charities to donate to. Page 2 and 3 shows a couple of suspects in a theft from motor vehicle and subsequent credit card fraud.
Don’t forget to register your group for National Night Out 2013. The deadline is approaching. Contact me if you need the application or help registering. As always thank you for the hard work you, the citizens, contribute to helping us make sector 111 a safer place to live and work!

Comedic gold.
Hilarious! Don’t forget it’s easy pickings at the Blue Wheeler! Criminals: Please stop by and pick up a new-to-you car – preferably one that is blaring “music” before 9 am or after 9 pm!
