Baby injured in fire dies

An 18-month-old boy severely burned in a Church Hill fire died from his injuries Saturday, Richmond police said.
The boy and his 36-year-old mother were injured in the fire Tuesday at a rowhouse in the 1200 block of North 30th Street.
I’m so sorry. If anyone wants to take up a collection for the family I would be glad to contribute.
Yes the family is going to need it. But not the the mother of the mother. The child father is having a hard time with his passing. The mother set the bed on fire after setting the child in the bed. Now he is trying to find the money to put his child to rest.
This story breaks my heart. I hope the mother receives the psychological support (and possible institutionalization) that she needs and that her surviving children are located in or placed in loving homes.
The Richmond Police Department has identified the 18-month-old child who died from injuries sustained in last week’s N. 30th St. fire as Atrell Marcus, of 1221 N. 30th Street.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
Charges are pending against the victim’s mother, Ava Marcus, 36, of the above address, who remains at VCU Medical Center in critical condition. The charges are two counts of threaten to burn.
Department Major Crimes detectives are working with arson investigators with the Richmond Fire Department in this ongoing investigation.
As the investigation continues, Major Crimes detectives will continue to consult with the Commonwealth’s Attorney as additional charges are considered.
They are asking anyone with any further information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.
I am trying to get in touch with the child’s father. Can anyone help? Thank you.
Jessica the father is Charles Burch.
My prayers to my brother Charles Burch and family… You all are in my prayers everyday and nothing like this should be brought upon anyone….. Love and praying for you…
