Anybody missing this old girl? (UPDATED)
UPDATE 7/26 4:45PM: Juna, the dog we found last night, has been under some seriously neglectful conditions in her home. The owner has agreed that he is unable to take care of her and we are looking for someone who would be interested in adopting her. We have treated her for fleas which seems to have been her major problem aside from malnutrition. She definitely needs a visit to the vet, and the Church Hill Animal Hospital has agreed to give her a free examination on Monday to assess her needs. She is 12 years old, is very calm and mild mannered, and needs a home where she will be simply loved, fed and treated well. If we could keep her we would but we simply can’t take on another dog right now. Please share this with anyone who may be interested in giving this sweet pup a good home.
My husband and I found this dog this evening [Thursday night] at the corner of 27th and M. She is an older dog – she looks like she is maybe close to 10 years old? She is extremely malnourished and looks like she’s been lost for a long time. She was wearing a collar but had only a rabies tag – no name or contact information. She is extremely sweet – came right with us and ate at our house, let us give her a bath, etc. We plan to take her to the SPCA tomorrow to be scanned for a microchip. We’d love to have her reunited with her owner. We can be reached at 804-357-6134.
TAGGED: pets
You might be able to track her through the rabies tag. If there is a vet listed, they should be able to track the tag by its number. Thanks for helping her.
I’ve seen this dog on M street multiple times, usually sitting in front of the couple houses between 26th and 27th. Not sure if that’s where her home is, but the couple times I tried to approach her she ran off.
That’s Juna. She lives in the blue wooden house next to the alley on M street, between 26th and the park. I have gone to the house a few times and made the owner aware his dog is loose, malnourished, and possibly has mange. He was totally unresponsive, clearly doesn’t care. She is a sweet dog, and I’d recommend just keeping her, because the owner is pretty neglectful. Your not doing this dog any favors returning her to that guy.
If you’re not able to keep her and would rather not return her to the owner, please let me know and I’ll adopt her and keep her safe.
Suzanne, I just sent you a message on facebook. You can contact me at the number listed on this post.
Jack, thanks for the information. The owner has admitted that he is unable to take care of her and is willing to let us try and find a good home for her. She is so sweet and I hate to see her in these conditions.
I saw the owner looking for her this morning. He admitted that he needs help caring for her. I think if someone is willing to take her in he would be very appreciative.
I live on that block and can confirm Jack’s sad story. My girlfriend and I have the same conversation with this guy about Juna before.
Elizabeth, I left a voicemail for you with my work number. I’ll be here til at least 5 today.
P.S. Those are my 2 Greyhounds in my FB profile pic.
