Whitcomb Court death investigation

At 1:24 p.m. today, officers were called to Whitcomb Court after the body of a black male, believed to be in his mid-20s, was discovered inside a vacant apartment in the 2100 block of Deforrest Street.
The Police Department will work with the Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating Friday’s shooting death as a homicide.
At 1:24 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the 2100 block of Deforrest Street for a report of a person down. Officers found James E. Rousey Jr., 25, of Chester, shot to death inside a residence.
Detectives are following up on several strong leads and don’t believe this crime was random.
