@#2: I have never really had any issues with service at Patrick Henry. The staff have always been super friendly and attentive as possible considering they are often covering multiple areas of the restaurant (like the deck and the downstairs tables) at one time. It’s become one of my cherished local haunts!!
Patrick Henry has the best onion rings on the planet and probably the best burger in Richmond. They grow many of their own herbs—gorgeous pesto. Must-have, make-their-own mozzarella cheese (try both on your burger). If the basement is too smoky for you, try the main floor. Super people, unique character. Love this place!
I also love PH’s burger with mozzarella – so yummy!! I find the bar area appealing – quaint and cozy – but I can’t handle the smoke. I like the idea of their deck but have found it forlorn. Love beer and love the sign!
I have never had an issue with service there at all. I used to go all the time when I lived over in the area. The food was always fresh and tasty and the staff always friendly. I miss going as often as I used to.
fish and chips – delish.
No doubt, there are some fine stiff drinks to be had here and good food. But…I will weigh in on Chris’s side with the service. I have been not just forgotten about but actually had teeth sucked and eyes rolled at me from staff here for the sin of, wait for it, ordering a drink. At a pub. At a slooow time.
So, since then, havent been back. Station 2 has good burgers, stiff drinks, a patio AND excellent servers, in my experience.
Oh, and I tried to speak with the manager about the issues I had, but couldn’t get a hold of him because the same server kept answering the phone and taking the message. I gave up after numerous tries.
I avoid the pub area in favor of the main floor and patio. Service hasn’t been a problem and PHP has surprisingly delicious chicken fingers and fries.
There’s nothing like a margarita on the rocks on the PH patio. I’ve always found the staff friendly, and while service can be slow when the place is packed, my husband and I have never been forgotten, even when we’re the only ones on the patio.
I had not been in here in a long time until this spring, but visited both in early June and again in July with friends and both visits were great. We were on the patio both times because my out of town friends have a small dog.The waiter during the June visit was wonderful and attentive, but there were only two other tables full. In July, there were more of us and all the tables were full; the waitress was okay and brought us everything we asked for, though she was pretty rushed as the patio was packed. Food was fine both times, actually the hummus plate was wonderful. I can’t recall ever being forgotten, either.
