1-What’s the role of the sector lieutenant?
My role as a sector lieutenant is to engage the community through innovative thinking and strategic deployment of resources. I strive to strengthen our community relationships and reinforce the importance of teamwork between the community and the police department.
I also see the role of the sector lieutenant as a mentor to both the community as well as the officers who serve within our sector. It is also important to set goals toward the development of the troops. Creating opportunities for development and growth in- house has a positive impact on the development and growth within our community.

3-Why did you decide to become a police officer, and what do you enjoy most about the job?
I became a police officer because I wanted to be a SWAT Team member. While I enjoy my role on the SWAT team and it remains a great passion; I also enjoy the challenges and opportunities of the law enforcement profession itself. It is rewarding to see the level of trust grow between community members and the police department, and it is very rewarding to watch the growth of our young officers.
4-What did you do before becoming a sector lieutenant?
I was a lieutenant in the Special Investigations Division.
5-What do you want people to know about you personally?
I love baseball, hunting and fishing. I especially love spending time with family and friends away from the job, and just being a “regular” guy a few days per week.
6-Who is your favorite musical artist?
Darius Rucker
