The Reverend Robert Rose Monument (c. 1751), the oldest visible grave maker at St. John’s Church, has been nominated to be one of Virginia’s Top 10 Endangered Artifacts of 2013:
The marble monument is severely deteriorated and in need of immediate repair and stabilization before any more original historic fabric is lost. St. John’s Church is a National Historic Landmark and the original location of Patrick Henry’s “Liberty or Death” speech. Photos by Sarah Whiting.

the Rev Robert Rose is my direct ancestor. 5th great grandfather on my mother’s side. I would love to find a way to support this as i’m sure my large extended family would also. Voting is closed. Is there any other information that can help me?
Cindy Fullmer, I’d call St. John’s Church and speak to someone there. The office phone number is 804-649-7938.
