CHAT takes top spot in 2013 Amazing Raise
Church Hill Activities and Tutoring cleaned up again in the Amazing Raise 36-hour fundraiser, taking the top spot with 936 people pledging $76,306. It looks like the organization will have garnered over $170,000 by the time that it is all added up:
Wow, yet again we are blown away by the generosity of all of our supporters. Thanks to each of you who advocated for us and gave to us and helped create such a special experience for the youth of Church Hill. We managed to raise $76,306, which will all be matched, and to which over $20,000 in prize money will be added, and received donations from over 936 people. Students, staff and CHAT families are gathered to celebrate this great day, and we could not be more thankful and excited. Many thanks to the Community Foundation for creating this great event, and for helping us show the youth of Church Hill that they are worth it.
The fundraiser pulled in 18,106 gifts and $1.5 million (including incentive prizes) for 465 local charities this year, after generating 15,000 individual gifts and $1.2 million in 2012. Church Hill Tutoring and Activities (CHAT) won the Amazing Raise in 2011 with 380 donors and just over $40,000 pledged, and came in 2nd last year with 819 donors and over $100,000 raised.
Almost 600 organizations entered the contest statewide this year, with over 400 in the Richmond region.
Truly amazing, thanks for all who gave. Also another Church Hill non profit, Blue Sky Fund, came in the top ten, as well as Elijah House Academy, whose head of school lives in Union Hill.
Great news!!!
Thank you Church Hill. We love it here. The kids of Church Hill are worth it.
The Amazing Raise is just one example of CHAT’s greatness- mostly we are celebrating the work that CHAT does everyday in our neighborhood and we are celebrating God’s heart for the youth of the East End of Richmond! Thank you TCF and the Amazing Raise for giving us such a fun way to celebrate those things!
Wow! What wonderful news for all involved.
Lawson, don’t take away from your group’s accomplishment here. You and everyone who works with Blue Sky Fund does an amazing job for the city youth that you work with.
Congratulations! That’s great news.
My hat’s off to both CHAT and Blue Sky. Richmond is a much better place for all of the great things they both do especially for the children.
Great to see some positive news and comments after a season of emotional commentary
