Attempted B&E on Clay Street

Lisa sent this in overnight:
Just an FYI. My back door was kicked in around 10:30 pm Thursday night (28th and Clay). They were unsuccessful in actually entering my house due to the alarm and a strong deadbolt but destroyed my electrical meter/box and tried to cut the phone lines.
I don’t know if this is the start of a trend but folks may want to watch out.
This incident continues to highlight the lack of RPD presence in Church Hill. The mayor seems more focused on giving ax breaks than making meaningful change in the city. In the first MPACT meeting the #1 concern was greater police presence. While it is incumbent on us all to look out for other neighbors, our tax dollars should be working to protect us, not attract sports teams to the city. I do hope that our next mayor thinks about the citizens first and makes some meaningful changes.
This is really scary. I guess there’s no description?
Nope, no description. I was out of town when it happened. However, considering it was at 10:30 p.m. and kicking in a door causes noise, not to mention my alarm going into panic mode…you would think someone would have seen something.
And I do have to commend RPD on their response. They called me that night, answered all my questions, and dropped off the report information when I was back home.
Lisa- I’m so sorry to hear that this happened to you. I too am surprised that no one saw anything, especially since they took the time to try to cut through your electrical and phone cords. Were you without power at all because of this incident?
This is awful! So sorry, Lisa, but glad nothing was taken in addition to the damage.
Are there any options that we have for alleyway lighting in the area? I’m not even sure who to contact about that.
