Sector 111 report for October
Lt.Minton’s Sector 111 October report (PDF) is now available. Sector 111 encompasses Church Hill, Chimborazo, Church Hill North, Fulton, Oakwood, and Union Hill:
September started off with some disappointing numbers associated with senseless ag- gravated assaults where people chose to settle disputes with violence. Even with this start we turned it around to enjoy a 25 percent reduction in violent crime. If you remember last year, sector 111 saw 3 homicides in September. The violence this month was in the form of 4 aggra- vated assaults and two robberies. Last year there were 3 robberies in sector 111 for the month of September. All the aggravated assaults have been cleared. Three of them by the arrest of the offenders. One of the robberies was cleared by arrest and the other is still pending.
We enjoyed more good news with property crime. Burglaries were down by 44% com- pared to last year. We also enjoyed a 38% reduction in auto thefts. The increases we saw were in Theft from Motor Vehicles and All Other Larcenies. Overall property crime was down by 8% and overall crime was down by 10%. We still have people donating items to criminals by leaving there cars unlocked and their valuables in plain view.
The other issue is with copper thefts. Criminals are still dismantling HVAC units for scrap. This is a truly frustrating crime. The damage that is done during this crime can cost thousands of dollars to fix. I really would like to put some people behind bars for this offense. Don’t hesitate to call if you see someone suspicious in an alley or behind a neighbor’s house. A lot of times they appear to be doing work on house when in fact they are dismantling the air conditioning units to take the copper.
Enough with the numbers, lets talk about some good news and some people to watch out for. Clinton Conyer was arrested for stealing copper in Oak Grove Elementary School. He is no stranger to the salvage yards and neither is James Valentine (see page 3 for more information).
These are guys to watch out for in your neighborhood. The next two people to watch out for are Antoine Brunson and Natisha Burton (pages 4 and 5). These two are responsible for a couple of car break ins in the Church Hill and Shockoe Bottom area. We want to get them off the street as soon as possible. The last wanted party is Ronnie James Sneed (page 6). He sold a car for scrap that did not belong to him. He needs to get locked up as well…..
Lastly, the email chain that was started in Greater Fulton is doing well. I am getting ready to start a similar set up for Union Hill as well. If you are interested in doing this in your neighborhood let me know and I will set that up for you as well. As always thank you for the hard work you, the citizens, contribute to helping us make sector 111 a safer place to live and work!
