Please don’t steal veggies from the garden
10/03/2013 7:17 PM by John M
Do you know this woman? If so, can you pass on a message from the folks at Tricycle Gardens?
“Please don’t take vegetables without asking first for permission (or volunteering to do some weeding)”
UPDATE: A reader was able to ID the woman. This has been passed on to the folks at the garden. Given some of the information involved, it seemed decent to remove the photo.
Damn! Didn’t know they had a camera. Next time I’ll wear a hood.
She probably thought a community garden meant the veggies were for the community! 😉
Why block out the eyes if you’re trying to identify the person? Seems counterintuitive…
Taking something that doesn’t belong to you, without permission is stealing. It doesn’t matter if it is a lump of coal or a diamond,… it’s stealing and it’s wrong.
I know who she is, just DM’d you.
if she’s not stealing, she would do it in the daylight
@ ANYONE who thinks “outing” a thief is wrong:
Are you able to look in the mirror and convince the rest of us that you’ve anything other than overjoyed to catch someone who stole the “fruits” if your sweat and labor?
A thief is a thief is a thief.
I for one advocate the end of gentrification via community gardens in Church Hill with this grassroots effort of peoples appropriation. Purge the yuppie scum!
Looks like an elderly lady. Better check to see if there is not some illness like dementia first, don’t you think?
As David said, perhaps she has dementia? Perhaps she had no other options for food and was hungry? Tricycle Gardens handled it with grace by saying – “Please don’t take vegetables without asking first for permission (or volunteering to do some weeding)”
Decent indeed John 🙂
To whoever came into the Jeff Ave Tric Garden last night and ripped the leaves off 10 immature broccoli and cauliflower plants, if you thought you were getting collards–you were mistaken.
The plants had been doused with a pretty heavy duty coating of BT (organic pesticide) so wash the leaves thoroughly if you plan on eating them. If you can be patient, and leave the remaining plants alone, we might see a broccoli floret or cauliflower head by Christmas.
If you can’t afford to buy organic veggies from either the Clay Street Mkt (they participate in the Get Fresh Corner Store Initiative) or the Thursday Farm Stand at the Tric Gdn Hqtrs, come see me and I will share some of my collards, kale or swiss chard–and hopefully–late this winter broccoli. I hope you will find it in your heart to help me pull a few weeds while we visit.
I will forgive you for destroying my broccoli & cauliflower plants if you could stop by during daylight hours–preferably while we’re gardening– and get to know the gardeners better. Come learn about what we are doing to improve the planet!
I work next door to the garden–stop by and we can work something out.
