I hope something is settled soon concerning the old East End Theater building. Josh Bilder has tried his best too accommodate everyone and even switched architects but feels he is on the right path and wants to satisfy everyone the best way possible. Parking will always be an issue since these buildings were built in another time when means of transportation was different. And people either have to accept that repurposing a building may lead to sacrifices – that is if they desire to renovate or restore structures rather than let then sit blighted or demolishing them.
the old east end theater, in its ‘blighted state’ is what made me want to move to 25th street, nearly 5 years ago.
before they covered the second floor fire door, I used to go in it all the time. one time my best friend and I went down below the old stage under the area where the screen once was, and found these old seat sides.. I still have one! many good times. the lobby still looked like a movie theater even after years of neglect and use as a donation center for the salvation army I believe. this was my favorite place in Richmond.
