Lavone gets his century

Craig Dodson’s Introducing Lavone Lewis on the Richmond Cycling Corps blog is an amazing read:
The three RCC youth had four weeks for final preparation. Every day mattered. Our rules were sharpened: Show up became show up on time. No negativity became ‘say something positive or don’t say anything’. Work hard became work harder. Physically, we had three youth who could complete 100-miles. Mentally and emotionally, I wasn’t sure who, if any, could.
After two weeks, one of our youth was late…twice. At the beginning of the third week, now down to two prospects, one of our youth made a few negative comments during the ride. It was now just Lavone vying for the opportunity to attempt 100 miles.
Awesome!!
Cheers to a gutsy ride by Lavone and an inspirational recap by Craig Dodson. I’m sure the best is yet to come.
this was excellent…although the title suggested a church hill cricket team toasting its newest centurion…oh well.
Cool story on Lavone. I hope he builds on this. Doing something like that at such a young age can really show a kid what he or she is actually capable of. The sky is the limit Lavone.
@#6 I looked up your name, because I didn’t know Nagalingam was actually a name (and an awesome one at that) but I came across another cricket related post by you on BenBruno.com … which makes me think you have a hankering for a rousing slog on the wicket. Have you tried here: http://www.greaterrichmondcricketclub.com or here: http://www.richmondcricket.com/ (possibly defunct)
And for those of us benighted non-cricketers, try this on for size: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_cricket_terms
seriously teary right now. RCC is doing GOOD SHIT for RVA youth. much respect.
Wow, awesome stuff! Congratulations all the way around to all those involved.
Love this story!
Great write up! I too had some tears welling up!
