Teaching garden going in at Chimborazo Elementary

A Chimborazo update from Kristen Hughes:
Exciting things are happening at Chimborazo Elementary School! Volunteer crews (including the folks in this picture from Capital One) are installing an outdoor teaching garden at the school. They have so far been working for two days on the project.
Yesterday they also laid down grass seed under the big pin oak trees along East Marshall Street as well.
The volunteers, school staff, and donors are really creating a neat outdoor learning space for the kids at Chimbo. Great work!
Is the school also in charge of the maintenance of the traffic circles around the school? The one at 29th & East Clay is looking a little sad. I was thinking of sprucing it up with some new shrubs if DPW was maintaining these features.
It really looks good around Chimborazo and this sounds like an exciting and positve project for the school. I recall a few weeks ago the hysterics that resulted from the trimming of the trees in preparation for this project and, in particular, the call for something to be done immediately about this “emergency situation.” It would be nice if people would take a deep breath before working themselves into a panic over something they know nothing about.
