It is the intent that this will be an informational meeting. If, at its conclusion, there is consensus that additional discussion and possible action is desired, a meeting at a later date will be scheduled for that purpose.
The ordinance relating to the Mayor’s Shockoe plan was introduced at the end of the last City Council meeting. The ordinance will be first considered at the Council’s Land Use, Housing & Transportation Standing Committee Meeting on November 19th at 3:00 PM and their Finance & Economic Development Standing Committee Meeting on November 21st at 3:00 PM. Both meetings will be held in Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall and will offer public comment periods on the ordinance. This should put the discussion on the Shockoe ballpark front and center at the next City Council meeting on November 25.
Thanks for the timetable John. I guess the rumor is true: that the Mayor and Venture Richmond really do expect to shove this down the taxpayers’ throats. S-O-P since Redskins Training Park.
FYI: Union Hill folks the Stadium meeting is the same tiem/night as the big meeting to protect the viewshed (aka Echo Harbour/Pear St.etc.) at the VA War Memorial. Just letting you know that some folks can’t be two places at the same time as BOTH issues affect our community.
Hi – Is there any reason why a representative of opponents to the Shockoe Bottom proposal isn’t being invited to make a presentation at the meeting? Just asking, because it looks like a one-sided discussion. If you were open to this, I’d be happy to attend or recommend someone else. Thanks. – Phil Wilayto, Editor, The Virginia Defender and a former resident of Church Hill
I think it would be great if Phil could present the opposing view point at this meeting. It is good to get both sides of the issue.
