The Union Hill Civic Association will meet next Wednesday to discuss the Mayor’s proposed Shockoe redevelopment plan:

The UHCA will meet at 601 N. 22nd Street at 7:00 pm. on November 20, 2013. The purpose of the meeting is to provide all possible and pertinent information regarding Mayor Jones’ proposal for the development of Shockoe Bottom.

Our UHCA Secretary has contacted the office of Mayor Jones and requested that either he, or a representative from his office attend this meeting. We also hope our 7th District Councilperson, Dr. Cynthia Newbille will attend and share her vision of Shockoe Bottom.

Please forward specific question for our guests to fieldmn@gmail.com They will be forwarded to the appropriate party prior to the meeting.

It is the intent that this will be an informational meeting. If, at its conclusion, there is consensus that additional discussion and possible action is desired, a meeting at a later date will be scheduled for that purpose.

The ordinance relating to the Mayor’s Shockoe plan was introduced at the end of the last City Council meeting. The ordinance will be first considered at the Council’s Land Use, Housing & Transportation Standing Committee Meeting on November 19th at 3:00 PM and their Finance & Economic Development Standing Committee Meeting on November 21st at 3:00 PM. Both meetings will be held in Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall and will offer public comment periods on the ordinance. This should put the discussion on the Shockoe ballpark front and center at the next City Council meeting on November 25.
