Don’t let some turkey steal Thanksgiving!
Friends and Neighbors of Union Hill/Church Hill have set up a fundraiser for the residents of Church Hill House. A holiday party for disabled and elderly neighbors is in jeopardy after a thief stole money meant for their Thanksgiving party.
DONATIONS are being accepted via YouCaring.com
The folks who live at The Church Hill House spend their holiday together because there’s nowhere else to go.
“This was a way of getting people out of a rut and enjoy the festivities of the holiday but we gotta put that money back,” Taylor added.
Henrico Police are investigating, but have no real leads at this point. The suspect paid with cash so there is no way to track him.
Let’s not wait for the Police to find this theif…Let’s take care of our neighbors and raise the funds for their Thanksgiving dinner. Every dollar raised here will go directly residents of Church Hill House and an accounting will be made to each donor.
What’s Church Hill House? I’ve never heard of this place before.
It’s retirement/disability housing in the old American Can building at 24th and Venable Street.
Saturday morning and still short of their goal.
If you have it, let’s show some more love for our neighbors.
the news report says $200 in cash was stolen–the fundraising effort has already surpassed that amount.
@4, They are trying to double the original $250 and when I looked just now, they are at $440, so they are close to their goal of $500. I think it looks great!
Now just $10 short I think.
Breezed right on past the goal of $500, now they’ve raised $560.
Glad they got the money raised but I think RPD may want to watch that video again. The suspect appears to be signing something at the end of his purchase if you watch carefully. I don’t think that this was a cash transaction. Also, are the only cameras above the registers?
That said, what would the charge here be since the money was dropped? Beyond 1st degree dickiness of course.
Can we get a report from someone in Union Hill about this – has the money been given to the residents in time to put together their party on Thanksgiving?
?EXTRA GOOD NEWS FOR C.H.H.?
While with my wife was delivering her tasty baked goods to Little House Green Grocery:

they asked us to find a home for a *Fresh 15# Turkey*. With a “late in the 4th quarter” assist by Bill Conkle, it was safely delivered tonight to Church Hill House.
Yessir, @crd! $560 delivered yesterday for their holiday celebrations!
@10 and 11, GREAT news, many thanks (and the turkey was quite a bonus!)
