New Church Hill Rotary hosting Holiday Mail for Heroes Card Signing

11/27/2013 10:41 AM by

The Church Hill Rotary Formation Club will be holding a Holiday Mail for Heroes card signing this Monday, December 2 at the upstairs room at Patrick Henry’s Pub. They will be starting at 6:30 PM and will stay until all the cards are signed.

The American Red Cross distributes the cards at military installations, veteran’s hospitals, and to veterans, military families and active-duty service members in other locations around the world. Cards and pens will be provided.

The Church Hill Rotary Formation Club is a new club and have been meeting since September. The group has provisional status as a Rotary, but has already been working in the community and is actively seeking more participants.

We’ve sponsored one team each from Chimborazo Elementary and Bellevue Elementary to the Habitat for Humanity’s LEGO Blitz Build; collected toiletries for the Homeless Connect event at the Convention Center; helped out with the multi-church Thanksgiving meal at Chimborazo Elementary, sponsored by Asbury UMC.

We also done some fun stuff too in having a Church Hill Chillers ghost walking tour before Halloween and a Sunday Funday Football Frenzy party at On the Rox’s this past weekend.

Upcoming events include Holiday Mail for Heroes (holiday cards for overseas military) card signing this Monday (12/2); Rotary presentation by Past District Governor Jim Bynum on 12/09; Holiday Party on 12/13; helping Bellevue PTA with movie night on 01/10. We are currently looking at potential events for the next six months to start filling in our calendar.
